by Ambroise Bétourné (1795 - 1838)

La femme du contrebandiste
Language: French (Français)
Mon Dieu, quand reviendra
L'enfant de la montagne,
Que sa triste compagne
Appelle en vain dans la Sierra ?

Près de hameaux quand il s'arrête
Il faut voir en habit de fête
Et leste, au signal du plaisir,
La jeunesse en foule accourir.
Mon Dieu etc.

Il me rapporte de la ville
chaque fois qu'il passe à Séville,
Tout ce qui peut flatter mes gouts :
Mantille et rubans et bijoux !
Mon Dieu etc.

Je tremble, hélas ! que son audace
Ait mis les soldats sur sa trace !
J'ai vu la ronde tout le jour
Roder dans le bois d'alentour.
Mon Dieu etc.
