Das Sonnenlicht,
Ein Strahl umflimmert golden meiner Liebsten Haar
Und Angesicht.

Sie selber hält in frommer Andacht tief gesenkt,
Das junge Haupt;
Ob ihr der Himmel gnädig wohl den Frieden schenkt,
Den sie mir raubt?

Golden, a sunbeam flickers about the hair of my beloved
And about her face.

She herself holds her young head deeply bowed
In pious worship,
I wonder if Heaven shall mercifully grant her the peace
That she steals from me?
