Der Schwermütige
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  DUT
Sel'ge Zeiten sah ich prangen
Und den Erdball glaubt' ich mein,
Als mich Liddys Blick befangen,
Unschuldklar wie Heil'genschein.

Als der Lippen Siegel sprangen
Herrschte Gott nicht mehr allein,
Denn der Liebe Klänge schwangen
Siegend mich zum Himmel ein.

Ach, die Wonnen all [zerklangen]1,
Ewig kann nicht Frühling sein!
Traum und Treue sind vergangen,
Ausgelöscht der Heil'genschein.

Fern von ihr muß ich verbangen,
Von der Welt ist nichts mehr mein;
Glühend fasset Allverlangen
Nur der Hoffnung Leichenstein.

Doch zum Todesengel drangen
Meines Herzens Öd' und Pein,
Liebend bald von Erd' umfangen
Wird der Himmel wieder mein!

De zwaarmoedige
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Zaal’ge tijden zag ik hangen,
En de aardbol leek van mij,
‘k Was door Liddy’s blik bevangen,
‘n Aureool scheen die voor mij.

Toen haar lippen ’t zegel braken,
Heerste God niet meer alleen,
Want haar lieve woorden maakten
Mij een hemelvorst meteen.

Ach, al ’t heerlijks is nu henen,
Lente geeft slechts kort wat jool!
Droom en trouw zijn ook verdwenen,
Uitgedoofd de aureool.

Ver van haar leef ik in rampen,
D’ aarde is een lege trog;
Gloeiend hunk’ren kan vastklampen
Slechts van hoop de grafsteen nog.

Naar de dodenengel dreven
Wanhoop mij en hartenpijn,
Weldra zacht door aard’ omgeven
Zal ‘k weer in de hemel zijn!
