Noite de junho...
Há vozes brandas ecoando, longe:
O anel que tu me deste era vidro e se quebrou...
O amor que tu me tinhas era pouco e se acabou.

There are big roses pale in the shade,
Pale as your hands in the shade.
Far off flickers the gleam of bonfires…
The night wind sways the foliage,
[Strips the leaves from] the jasmines, plays on the vines.
June night…
There are soft voices echoing, far away:
The ring that you gave me was glass and broke…
The love that you had for me was scant and ran out.
