by Rose Harel (1826 - 1885)

Pauvre bouton
Language: French (Français)
Sur les rosiers pendant l'hiver
On voit sous une froide étreinte
Un bouton mort sans s'être ouvert,
Emblême d'espérance éteinte :
Hélas ! hélas ! il avait espéré
Un sort plus doux sur cette branche,
Où maintenant décoloré,
fleutri par l'orage il se penche.

Tel refermé sur son amour
Un cœur brisé par la souffrance
Achêve de mourir au jour,
Où tout renait à l'espérance :
Hélas ! hélas ! pleurant un souvenir,
Il aime à contempler encore
Ce bonheur qu'il n'a pu saisir,
Qui pour un autre vient d'éclore.
