Über die Haide sind wir gegangen,
und die Haide war blütenleer,
goldene Käfer flogen schimmernd
auf dem Sande vor uns her.
 
Alle Fuhrenzweige blühten
und die Haidelerche sang
aus der wolkenlosen Höhe
süß zu unserm Haidegang.
 
Einen Busch von goldenem Ginster
hieltest du in deiner Hand, 
den ich an dem Hünengrabe
zur Erinnerung dir band.
 
Zur Erinnerung an die Stunde,
die in uns noch lange glüht,
wenn an deinem Ginsterstrauße
alle Blumen sind verblüht.

eikä nummella ollut kukkia,
kultaiset kuoriaiset lentelivat hohtaen
edessämme hiekan yllä.
 
Mäntyjen oksat kyllä kukkivat
ja nummileivonen lauloi
korkealta pilvettömältä taivaalta
säestäen suloisesti nummivaellustamme.
 
Kimppu kultavihmaa
oli sinulla kädessäsi;
hiidenkiukaan luona minä olin sen 
sitonut sinulle muistoksi.
 
Muistoksi siitä hetkestä,
joka vielä kauan meissä hehkuu,
silloinkin, kun kultavihmakimppusi
kaikki kukat ovat lakastuneet.
