by Caroline Caspari (1808 - 1875)

Stumme Sprache
Language: German (Deutsch)
Diese Rose und dies Bändchen
send' ich meiner Liebsten hin,
denn sie künden ohne Worte
einen tief beredten Sinn.
Leise haucht die Rose Liebe,
ohne dass sie davon spricht.
Dieses Blättchen flüstert: Treue!
Und doch hörst du beides nicht.

Auch die Rosentröpfchen reden
heimlich mit verstohl'nem Blick,
und die frischen grünen Blätter,
die ich an die Lippen drück'.
Meine Sehnsucht ihr zu klagen,
deut' ich diesen Tropfen an,
doch die grünen Blätter flehen,
was ich selbst nicht sagen kann.
