by Johann Heinrich Voss (1751 - 1826)

Schwesterchen, mein Finger thut
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schwesterchen, mein Finger thut
  Mir so wehe!
Leih' mir deinen Fingerhut,
  Daß ich nähe:
Eh' Mama zu fragen kömmt:
Kind, wie weit das neue Hemd?

Bald mit Lobe neckt' er mich,
  Bald mit Tadel;
Plötzlich hatt' er einen Stich
  Von der Nadel:
Da entriß der Nimmergut
Mir im Zorn den Fingerhut.

O ich rang, das glaube du,
  So gewaltig!
Stich nur, lacht' er, stich nur zu;
  Dies behalt' ich!
Und im Ringen, o Verdruß!
Raubt' er mir noch einen Kuß!

Schwester, mehr wie einen Zoll
  Bist du größer;
Wie man was vertuschen soll,
  Weißt du besser.
Mutter, sag' ich, suche doch!
Mäuschen trug ihn wohl in's Loch!
