Mine Minder
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Jeg hviler ved mine minder
under livets grønne træ;
som børn med blege kinder
de sidde på mit knæ.

Jeg hviler ved glædens kilde,
med roser om min lok,
men hos mig leger den stille
erindrings engeleflok.

Jeg jubler med mit glade,
mit friske ungdomsmod.
Som falmede rosenblade
de dandse øm min fod.

De gamle, kjære minder,
de nævne mig ømt ved navn,
når dagens lys oprinder,
jeg vågner med dem i favn.

Når engang livets varme
forsvinder fra min kind,
med dem i mine arme
jeg sover stille ind.

Zwar grünt noch der Baum des Lebens
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Danish (Dansk)
Zwar grünt noch der Baum des Lebens,
doch gedenk ich alter Zeit,
und um mich spielt schon stiller
Erinn'rungs Engelschar.

Ich ruhe am Quell der Freuden,
die Ros' im Lockenhaar,
doch schaukeln wie bleiche Kinder
die Engel auf dem Knie.

Ich juble mit dem frohen,
dem frischen Jugendmut;
vergilbte Rosenblätter
umwirbeln meinen Fuß.

Die alten, lieben Gestalten,
die reden traut zu mir;
erst, wenn ich früh erwache,
entflieh'n sie mit dem Traum.

Wenn einst des Lebens Wärme
erstirbt in meiner Brust,
dann schlaf' ich, traut sie umarmend,
zur langen Ruhe ein.
