Am Sonntag
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie ist es [ringsum]1 kirchenstill!
Von fern nur tönt Geläute.
Kein Mühlrad rauscht, kein Lied erklingt,
Es ist ja Sonntag heute.

Ein [tiefer]2 Gottesfriede liegt
Auf Wald und Feld gebreitet,
Die Arbeit ruht, und jede Brust
Ist zum Gebet bereitet.

Dem Sonntag gleichst Du wohl, mein Herz,
Und bist doch auch verschieden,
Des Sonntags Stille ist in Dir,
Doch nicht des Sonntags Frieden.
