Les Adieux d'un jeune Croisé
Language: French (Français)
Adieu pour la dernière fois,
Adieu, Rose, amante chérie.
Je suis l’étendard de la croix,
Je vole aux plaines de l’Asie,
Le ciel inspire ma valeur,
De l’Eglise la voix me crie :
«Cours illustrer au champ d’honneur
Dieu, ton pays, et ton amie».

Je vais sur ce bord étranger
De Dieu conquérir l’héritage ;
Est-il pour moi quelque danger
Quand ton doux souvenir m’engage ?
Fidèle à la croix, à l’amour,
Je veux, ô maitresse chérie !
Servir jusqu’à mon dernier jour,
Dieu, mon pays, et mon amie.

Si le sort me trahit enfin,
Sous l’ennemi si je succombe,
Je veux qu’aux rives du Jourdain
Les Croisés élèvent ma tombe.
Ils y mettront : «Ci-gît Didier
L’Aquitaine fut sa patrie
Il servit en preux chevalier
Dieu, son pays, et son amie».
