by Friedrich Albert Schmitt (1852 - 1890)

Schifferlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Durch die Fluthen ohne Zagen
Lenken wir das leichte Boot,
Ob auch laut die Wellen schlagen,
Ob auch rings die Brandung droht.
Muthig steuert unser Kahn
Hin auf seiner dunklen Bahn.
Hoiaho, hoiaho!

Schwebend fährt an Riff und Klippen
Unser leichtes Boot vorbei,
Und das Meer an seinen Rippen
Rauscht die alte Melodei;
Wenn der Osten roth erglüht
Klingt schon unser frohes Lied.
Hoiaho, hoiaho!

Rauscht und brauset nur, ihr Wellen,
Dieser Klang ist uns vertraut!
Mag das Boot am Riff zerschellen,
Doch dem Schiffer nimmer graut.
Singend stimmen wir mit ein
In die wilden Melodei'n --
Hoiaho, hoiaho!
