by Eugène, Marquis de Lonlay (1815 - 1866)

La Berrichonne
Language: French (Français)
Bois, landes et plaine,
Con fins du Berri,
Sombre et vieux domaine,
Asile chéri !
Tout vient me sourire
Dans ces lieux amis ;
Enfin je respire
L'air de mon pays !

Cent fois je préfère
L'or de tes genets,
Tes champs de bruyère,
Tes âpres guérets,
Tes landes stériles
Sans prés, sans épis,
Aux vallons fertiles
D’un autre pays !

Salut paysage
Si riche en couleur,
Dont l'aspect sauvage
Réjouit mon cœur.
Puis église austère,
Dont la voix le soir
Apporte à la terre
Le calme et l'espoir.

Salut, noble Dame,
Si riche en atours,
Ame de mon âme,
Astre de mes jours :
O ma Châtelaine,
Adieu tout souci,
Le sort me ramène,
Et je reste ici.
