by Eduard Ernst Heinrich Kauffer (1824 - 1874)

Schon rauscht in dunklen Wogen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schon rauscht in dunklen Wogen
Das Meer der Nacht in's Thal,
Verschwunden und entflogen
Ist Tag und Sonnenstrahl.

Die Arbeit, die da lärmte,
Sie liegt in tiefer Ruh;
Der Gram auch, der sich härmte,
Schließt seine Augen zu.

Umhangen von grünen Bäumen
Und dem Frieden der Sommernacht,
Wie selig ist es, zu träumen
Von Blüthen und Sternenpracht!

Beruhigt schweigen die Schmerzen,
Die Sorgen groß und klein,
Und in dem lachenden Herzen
Zieht ein lachender Frühling ein.
