by Tor Hedberg (1862 - 1931)

Jungfru Lif, så skär och fin
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Jungfru Lif, så skär och fin,
på sin spinnrock spinner.
Skall det blifva bröllopslin?
Skynda, tiden rinner!

Sedesamt sig foten rör,
muntert snurrar hjulet,
tråden tvinnas, tunn och skör;
— jungfrun ler förstulet.

Ty emot den skönas stol
friarn Död sig lutar,
söker hejda hjulets sol,
slår på tråden knutar.

Djärfvare från stund till stund
syndar han på nåden,
tar en kyss från hennes mun,
— men då brister tråden.

Kärleksjoller, kärlekssmek,
gnabb och tårar äfven!
Alltihop är bara lek.
Hvad skall bli af väfven?
