by Jacint Verdaguer i Santaló (1845 - 1902)

La Verge seia un dia
Language: Catalan (Català)
I
La Verge seia un dia
vora, voreta el mar,
les ones a ses plantes
no es cansen de jugar,
juguen a dar-li perles,
qui més li'n podrà dar,
perles que diuen totes:
"Vullau-nos aplegar."
Comença de collir-ne,
collir-ne i enfilar,
com més Ella n'enfila,
més vénen-la a arruixar.

II
Passava Magdalena,
li varen agradar:
-Donau-me'n unes xiques
per fer-me'n un collar.
-Vos ne daré una altra hora,
si les sabeu guanyar.
De perles i de roses
del cèlic roserar,
ne vull fer un rosari
que el món ha de lligar. --
