     Le marchand de sable a passé :
Dormez, chers blondins rêveurs ou turbulents ; 
  C'est l'heure où les souris vont danser
  Et les chats aux pieds fourrés de bas blancs. 

  Fermez vos beaux yeux, blondines coiffées
  De vos jolis bonnets à mignonnettes, 
  Et rêvez que vous êtes au château des fées, 
  Princesses en robes et cornettes. 

    Le marchand de sable a passé 
Avec sa hotte pleine de rêves cajoleurs, 
Avec ses mains pleines d'étoiles et de fleurs, 
Avec son habit gris de satin froissé.

      C'est l'heure des contes bleus
      Sous le manteau de la cheminée,
   Des contes où des pages miraculeux 
   Avec leurs dames viennent se promener. 

Voulez-vous être Peau d'Ane ou Cendrillon, 
    Prince Charmant ou Petit Poucet ? 
Fermez vos beaux yeux, mignonnes et mignons : 
    Le marchand de sable a passé.
