by Émile Peyrefort (b. 1862)

La Douleur des choses
Language: French (Français)
Le tas des ronces se hérisse
En ce soir morne et douloureux.
S’entr’ouvrant là-bas, de grands creux
Ont un aspect de cicatrice.

Sur les fossés, au ras des trous,
Tournent les feuilles jaunissantes ;
On croirait voir le long des sentes
Un dernier vol de moineaux roux.

D’émouvantes mélancolies
Plissent la face des étangs,
Où semble passer par instants
L’âme des rieurs ensevelies.

Du bois plein de vagues terreurs
Montent des formes affligées,
Et des larmes se sont figées
Tout au bout des saules pleureurs.
