by Ludwig Wihl (1807 - 1882)

Dichters Wunsch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich möchte jeden Stab
Zum grünen Zweige wandeln,
Daß auch der dürre Scheit
In Blüthe ging mit Mandeln;

Ich möchte jedem Stein
Das Herz im Grund erschließen,
Daß aus verborgnem Puls
Ein Quell sich müßt' ergießen;

Ich möchte jedes Herz
Mit Dichterblumen schmücken,
Und mit ihm geistverwandt
Dann theilen mein Entzücken.

Confirmed with Deutscher Musenalmanach, neuntes Jahrgang, ed. by Chamisso and Schwab, Leipzig: Weidmann'sche Buchhandlung, 1838, pages 119 - 120.
