Сирітка на зірку дивилась
І щиро до неї молилась:
“Світи, моя втіхо, світи,
Збуди мою долю, збуди!”

Та доля блукала світами,
Сирітка вмивалась сльозами,
А зірці дивитися жаль,
І стала зникати у даль.

Та ангел страдальців
І смутку полетів за зіркою хутко,
За ясне проміння узяв,
І знов серед неба поклав.

І зірка його зрозуміла,
Зі встиду ціла спаленіла
І вже у простір небіжить,
Лиш сяє сердешна й дріжить.
