by Georg Ludwig Heinrich Lang (1836 - 1920)

Der schlaue Peter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ei Peter, lieber Peter,
was willst du mit der Angel, he?
Viel Fischlein schwimmen in dem See,
doch fischen kann nicht jeder!

Der Peter denkt im Stillen:
Man kann so gut beim Angeln ruh'n
und glaubt dabei doch was zu tun;
Lasst mir nur meinen Willen!

Und manche Stunde steht er,
doch endlich zuckt's - er zieht hervor
und hat - ein ellenlanges Rohr
gefischt, der schlaue Peter.

D'rauf ist er heimgegangen
und rief: Die Beute war nicht schlecht,
denn seht, wär' dieses Rohr ein Hecht,
wie viel hätt' ich gefangen!

Confirmed with Über Land und Meer. Allgemeine illustrierte Zeitung, 47. Bd. 1882 Nr. 26.
