Der Mann im Mond ist nicht zuhaus'. Wer wirft mir jetzt das Seilchen aus, auf dem ich tanzen lerne? Die rote Sternlaterne geht mit dem Turmhahn zum Gebet, und eine taube Glocke dreht den Strick um ihren Nacken. Drei Totenlichter blaken den Segenbaum im Friedhof an, der Heiland leuchtet wie ein Schwan am Kreuz, das leise schaukelt. Ich hätt' gar gern gegaukelt, wär' gerne übers Seilchen fort so hingetanzt, und dann ein Wort mit Gott dem Herrn zu sprechen. Er soll das Kreuz abbrechen, damit der Sohn nach Hause kann, und das Gelichter soll der Mann im Mond gefügig machen. Der hat ja auch dem plumpen Ding, das früher winselnd an ihm hing, das Tanzen und das Lachen oft beigebracht in Elendsnacht.
