Sagt, warum mich nicht begeistert
eurer Freuden bunt Gewühl?
Meines Ichs sich stets bemeistert
nur ein trauriges Gefühl.
O, dann denk' ich nur an sie zurück
und an das genoss'ne stille Glück.

Sagt, wann werd' ich wohl genesen,
finden die verlor'ne Spur,
wo ich einstens bin gewesen
in der trauten Heimatsflur?
