by Marceline Desbordes-Valmore (1786 - 1859)

Ô douce Poésie !
Language: French (Français)
Ô douce Poésie !
Couvre de quelques fleurs
La triste fantaisie
Qui fait couler mes pleurs ;
Trompe mon âme tendre,
Que l’on blessa toujours :
Je ne veux plus attendre
Mes plaisirs des Amours.

Donne aux vers de ma lyre
Une aimable couleur,
Ta grâce à mon délire,
Ton charme à ma douleur ;
Que le nuage sombre,
Qui voile mes destins,
S’échappe, comme une ombre,
À tes accents divins.

Sois toujours attentive
Sur mes chants douloureux ;
D’une pudeur craintive
Enveloppe mes vœux ;
Cache l’erreur brûlante,
Qui trouble mon bonheur :
Mais, ô Dieu ! qu’elle est lente
À sortir de mon cœur !
