Une voix tendre, au déclin d'un beau jour.
Il le redit, puis il écoute encore ;
Et chaque fois il obtient en retour :

Brûlant d'amour,
Le jeune troubadour
Répète en vain ces accents pleins de charmes :
En ce séjour
Il n'a parlé d'Amour
Qu'avec l'écho des vallons d'alentour !
Espoir trompé fait couler quelques larmes...
Il n'ose plus chanter, le troubadour
