by Christian Adolf Overbeck (1755 - 1821)

Der Bund
Language: German (Deutsch)
Hand in Hand durchs Leben wandern,
Theilen Hoffnung und Genuss,
Eins sich finden in dem Andern,
Wechselblick und Wechselkuss;

Grüssen, so vereint, den Morgen,
So vereint, die holde Nacht;
Tragen alle kleinen Sorgen,
Und was stärkt und besser macht;

Wo versagte Wünsche drücken,
Hoffnungsvoll zum Himmel sehn,
Und Befriedigung erblicken:  --
O wie ist der Bund so schön!

Confirmed with Musen-Almanach, ed. by Johann Bernhard Vermehren, Leipzig: in der Sommerschen Buchhandlung, 1802, page 50.
