Prendile dunque, queste canzoni, che io, cara, ti ho cantato, ricantale di nuovo la sera al dolce suono del liuto. Quando il rosso del tramonto scende verso il quieto mare azzurro, e il suo ultimo raggio si spegne dietro l'alto di quelle montagne; e tu canti ciò che io ho cantato, ciò che dal profondo del petto senza artifizio e studio mi è venuto fuori, solo ispirato dalla nostalgia: allora per queste canzoni scompare ciò che ci ha tenuti così lontani, ed un cuore amante ottiene ciò che un cuore amante ha consacrato!
