Gaverne hans de var snare at gjemme,
for han eiet ei gods på denne jord.
Feilene hans de var lette at glemme,
men aldri så glemmer jeg hans ord.

Dansene hans de var vilde og gale,
mig var han lydig og saa tam.
Hælen hans slo taket i Lændsmandens sale
og aldrig så jeg nogen som ham.

Armene hans de var myge at kjende,
og øiet hans var blaat som en sjø.
Viserne sine de sang han uden ende,
sang like til den dag han måtte dø.

Dagene mine de blir saare lange,
og døden saa unådig og saa sen.
Tankerne mine de blir ofte saa mange
og enda saa har jeg bare en, bare en.
