by Karl Sigmund Freiherr von Seckendorff (1744 - 1785)

Nacht ‑‑ Ständchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
In schwarzer Mitternacht,
da keine Seele wacht,
komm ich zu dir!
Und scheue, holdes Kind,
nicht Regen, Sturm und Wind,
vor deiner Thür.

Die Ruh ist mir verhaßt,
mein Herz hat keine Rast,
und meine Gluth
macht mir die kalte Luft,
in die mich Liebe ruft,
zum höchsten Gut.

Wenn ach! Zu dieser Frist
dein Aug noch wachend ist,
so zeig es mir!
Getröstet stimm' ich dann
ein frohes Danklied an,
gewiedmet Dir!

Alleine, schliefst du schon,
so wiege jeder Ton
dich träumend ein,
und lasse sanft und mild
doch wenigstens dein Bild
zugegen seyn.
