Mondschimmer liegt in Fülle überm Land,
Daß weit die Äcker in dem Lichte gleißen.
Da sitzt das Glück auf meines Daches Rand,
Nachtwandlerisch, in linnenem Gewand,

Verlockt und trunken von dem Licht, dem weißen.
Und da es traumwach mir ins Antlitz schaut,
Wie lockend, daß ich es bei Namen riefe,
So sag' ich den geliebten Namen laut,

Und jählings stürzt es in die Tiefe.
