L'étang

Mon âme est un étang m orécageux et mort !
Des vents glacés sans cesse y gémissent leurs plaintes.
Ecimés et marqués de sinistres atteintes,
Des arbres foudroyés en attristent les bords.

Les amours oubliés, les amitiés éteintes,
Le trésor douloureux des cruautés du Sort,
Pourrissent lentement dans la vase qui dort,
Avec le terreau noir, avec les fleurs déteintes.

Lugubre lieu ! Pourtant, en cet abîme sourd,
Lorsque mon faible cœur ose jeter la sonde,
Et d’un coup imprévu frapper le limon lourd,

Un rayon se répand, un frémissement court,
Quelques blancs souvenirs montent à travers l’onde,
Nénuphars étoilant ma détresse profonde.
