Das Mädchen steht am Grabe, ihr trauter Jüngling fiel; der Mond sieht lächelnd nieder, die Welt ist totenstill. Er schwor im letzten Sommer: Dein, Mädchen, ewig dein! Der Mond sah lächelnd nieder, totstill war Flur und Hain. Das Mädchen steht am Grabe; ob sie dort weinen will? Ach nein! Sie kann nicht weinen, auch sie ist - totenstill.
