Jeune fille, à quinze ans
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG
Jeune fille, à quinze ans, chante comme l'alouette;
Jeune fille, à quinze ans, croit toujours au doux printems;
Car alors la pauvrette ne rêve que jours de fête,
Car alors la pauvrette croit avoir toujours quinze ans.

La voyez-vous bondir dans le jardin de son père!
Les baisers d'une mère, voilà tout son avenir.

A Young Girl of Fifteen
Language: English  after the French (Français)
A young girl of fifteen sings like a lark,
A young girl of fifteen still believes in the sweet springtime,
Because the poor little thing only dreams of festivities,
Because the poor little thing thinks she'll always be fifteen.

See her leaping about in her father's garden!
Motherly kisses, that's all she's destined for.
