by Ludwig I, König von Bayern (1786 - 1868)

Die Nonne in Himmelspforten
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ach! Die Zelle
Wird zu Hölle,
wenn das Herz erglüht,
wer in Mauern muß vertrauern,
wenn die Liebe blüht.

Wie ihr fliesset,
euch ergiesset,
Wogen in das Meer,
ach! So rinnen auch von hinnen
meine Tage leer!

Dürft ich flieh'n,
mit euch zieh'n,
Wellen sanft und mild!
Bin gefangen. Mein Verlangen
Nimmer wird gestillt.

Kraft entweichet
Wang erbleichet,
Kummer lastet schwer.
Kann nur sehnen, keine Thränen
Hat das Auge mehr.

Ja, ich fühle
Mich am Ziele,
alterte schon jung,
Hülle sinket, jenseits winket
Die Vereinigung.
