Verlor'ne Klänge

O wie so rein oft rieselt ein Wunderklang
Aus tiefer Stromflut, lustigem Wipfelgrün,
  Aus Sternenschimmer, Wolken, Blumen,
    Oder aus lächelndem Kinderantlitz

Ins tiefste Herz mir! Wonnig und wunderbar
Entzückt die Seele mancher verlorne Ton,
  Der ander'm Ohr wallt vorüber,
    Anderem Sinne versagt und stumm ist.

Ich wandle klagend Pfade des Leids, und doch
Beneid' ich Keinen, welchem an's Ohr nicht bebt
  Der Allmusik Tonwelle, wer nicht
    Irdischem Klänge des Himmels ablauscht.
