by Julius (Ernst Wilhelm) Stinde (1841 - 1905)

Im Heim
Language: German (Deutsch)
Still ist es worden aller Ort,
Der Tag schloß müd' die Augen zu,
Am Himmel schwimmt der Mond in Ruh
Kein Sang ertönt, kein lautes Wort.

Hernieder steigen Engel sacht,
Die setzen sich auf unser Haus
Und breiten ihre Schwingen aus
Für dich, für mich, in treuer Wacht.

Süßes Vergessen all' der Zeit,
Da ich nicht dein, da du nicht mein.
Nun hegt uns Liebesfrieden ein,
Kein Laut, kein Wort ... nur Seligkeit.

Confirmed with Julius Stinde, Der Liedermacher. Ein Roman aus Neu-Berlin, Berlin: Verlag von Freund & Jeckel, 1893. Appears in Des Bräutigams Lieder, einundzwanzigstes Kapitel, page 253.
