Waait gij dan weder, gij wabbrende wind,
lief en toch koen, lauw en toch kil,
dartel als vogel of kind!
Spant gij dan weder uw wieken ter vlucht,
weeft gij dan weder uw web in de lucht,
guitige geest van April?
O! Uwe frisheid - wat heb ik er lang,
lang naar gewacht,
heet naar getracht,
guitige geest van April!
Laaf nu mijn slapen en wuif me om de wang,
beur me de ziel met uw zoevende zang,
veêl me als een vogel en koos me als een kind,
wabbrende lentewind, -
guitige geest van April!
