by Carl Bohm (1844 - 1920)

Einst im Mai
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Mai, im holden Maien,
wo alles knopst und blüht,
hat's auch in meinem Herzen
von Blüth' und Duft gesprüht.

Im Mai, im holden Maien,
mit Frühlingssonnenschein
drang tief in meine Seele
dein liebes Bild hinein.

Im Mai, o Gott! im Maien
kam über Nacht ein Frost,
der hat den Bäumen die Blüthen
und mir den Frühling gekost't.

Im Mai, im holden Maien
denk' ich in Wehmuth dein,
im Herzen ist's kalt geworden,
erfroren die Blüthen mein.
