Spanisches Liebeslied

Schön ist die Rose wohl zu schau'n,
die hold im Mai erblüht,
und schön der Stern, der durch das Grau'n
der stillen Nächte glüht.

Doch mehr als Rosenrot im Mai,
als Sternengold bei Nacht,
hat mich zu süßer Schwärmerei
dein holdes Bild entfacht.

Auf deiner Wangen weichem Samt
blüh'n Rosen milder auf,
in deinem Blick, der liebend flammt,
zieh'n Sterne gold'ner auf.

Was Erd' und Himmel Schönstes beut
an hoher, milder Zier,
in tausend Reizen ausgestreut,
vereinet ruht's in dir.

O wüsst' ich, wem zu Lust und Schmerz
die Wangenröslein blüh'n,
o wüsst' ich doch das reiche Herz,
dem solche Sterne glüh'n!
