The Scent of Lilac
Language: English
I met you when the year was at the Spring And golden-throated birds were on the wing, We heard the cadence of their melody Beneath the shadow of a lilac tree. And so the scent of lilac lingers on Although too many Springs have come and gone, Like half-forgotten dreams that haunt the mind Still in my heart that memory I find. And so one day, I pray that I shall rest Where winds draw music from the earth's sweet breast, A silent garden with a lilac tree To weep its tears of blossom over me.
