by Auguste Louis Charles de Messence, comte de La Garde-Chambonas (1783 - 1853?), as Auguste Delagarde-Chambonas, Comte

Les Pleurs du Béarnais
Language: French (Français)
Du Béarn un troubadour
Dans la douleur qui l’inspire
Aux montagnards d’alentour
Chantait pleurant sur sa lyre :
Des Bourbons le fils chéri
Vient d’expirer comme Henry.

Ainsi que le Béarnais,
Ce Charles notre espérance
Avait du héros Français
Les vertus et la vaillance.
Hélas! Il n’est plus Berry
Nous perdons deux fois Henry.

Nos Béarnais dont les pleurs
Sont un tribut à sa gloire
Répètent dans leurs douleurs
En bénissant sa mémoire :
Noble Prince il a péri
Et pardonné comme Henry.

Mais à l’espoir sans retour
Notre âme n’est pas fermée.
Objet de pleurs et d’amour
Tu vis dans ta Bienaimée
Qui porte en son sein chéri
Berry, Louis et Henry.
