by Walter Stein

Deutscher Morgen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du wundervolle Nachtigall,
durch Wetternacht und Tropfenfall
lockt deine helle Flöte.
Wir lauschen deinem frühen Schlag:
wer noch in Schlaf und Träumen lag,
den weckt die Morgenröte.

Wie grüßt der erste Sonnenstrahl
im deutschen Land das fernste Tal,
die weinbekränzten Hänge!
Im Frühlicht spiegelt sich der Dom
und sendet über Stadt und Strom
die ersten Glockenklänge,

gewaltig wächst des Lichtes Flut.
Nun reg die Hände, junges Blut,
dein Tagwerk zu vollbringen!
Du Volk des Denkens und der Tat,
streu in die Furchen deine Saat,
mit Gott mag's wohl gelingen.
