Vuggevise
Language: Danish (Dansk)
   Alices sang for Harald Godwinssøn. Hastings 1066

Fald til hvile kærlighed,
læn dit hoved mod min skulder
havets dumpe dønning ruller,
luller ind og dysser ned,
slukker ud den onde skarpe
svies brand, som du har følt engang,
skyller op med klang af harpe
i min skingre vuggesang.

Sov, mit barn, sov fast og hårdt;
blytung blund har øjet lukket,
iskold ro har smerten slukket,
og din solskinssjæl fløj bort.
Op med glans, hvor du er inde,
op mod dagning blank og gyldengul,
flagrer min forstand i blinde
som en skumringssommerfugl.
