Kaiserlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kaiser Karl, Feldmarschall,
Liebling dein er Mannen,
Öst'reichs Kraft, Öst'reichs Macht
zieren deine Fahnen!
Alle Feinde unterliegen
deinem Heldenheer;
wie es kämpft, so wird es siegen
in gerechter Wehr.
In diesem großen Krieg
mit Englands großer Meute
wird unser sein der Sieg,
das wissen wir schon heute:
Verdiente Ehr', verdienter Sieg
nach langem, langem, schweren Krieg!

Kaiser Karl, Feldmarschall,
Liebling dein er Mannen,
Öst'reichs Kraft, Öst'reichs Macht
zieren deine Fahnen!
Furchtbar wird der Feind geschlagen
alle Front entlang,
ruhmvoll und vom Sieg getragen
ist der Waffengang!
Heil dir! Der Doppelaar
verkünde es den Welten,
dass vor der Feinde Schar
wir als die Sieger gelten.
Verdienter Sieg, verdiente Ehr'
nach langer, langer, schwerer Wehr!

Note: Kralik's setting of this text was composed in 1918 and reflects the composer's response to contemporary political events. Karl I was the last Emperor of Austria-Hungary, who abdicated following Austria's defeat in World War I in 1918 when the country became a republic.
