Der heilige Gral
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich las in alten Sagen
von jenem heiligen Gral;
das war die köstliche Schale,
darin beim Abendmahl
der Heiland sich dahingab
vor seiner Todesqual.

Die Schale kam nach Spanien;
dort baute Titurel
dem Gral den reichsten Tempel
auf göttlichen Befehl
und weihte ihn dem Geiste,
geschmückt mit manchem Juwel.

Und einen Orden von frommen
Gralsrittern setzte er ein,
die sollten all ihre Kräfte
dem Dienst des Geistes weih'n.
Fürwahr, von diesen Rittern
wollt' ich auch einer sein!
