by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Das Königskind in der Fremde
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ein Königskind in die Fremde zieht
Geführt von inn'rem Drang.
Dem hängt eine Thrän' am Augenlied [sic],
Dem ist so bang', so bang'.

Es seufzt, vernimmt es gleich kein Ohr,
Es seufzt, das Herz so schwer:
"Mein Heimathland, das ich verlor,
Dich seh' ich niemals mehr!"

O Königskind, erbange nicht,
Wie fremd auch Flur und Strand,
Wo dich die Lieb' wie hier umflicht,
Da ist dein Heimathland!

Confirmed with Johann Nep. Vogl (Dr.), Neue Gedichte, Epigrammatisches und Sprüchliches, Leipzig: Verlag von Christian Ernst Kollmann, 1856, page 84.
