by Giacomo Ca'Zorci (1898 - 1960), as Giacomo Noventa

Es war einmal ein Dichter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es war einmal ein Dichter,
Dessen namen keiner ehrt:
Von Menschen und von Dichtern
Zeigen Namen nicht den Wert.
Nach dem Sieg wurde er gerufen
Zum König vom deutschen Land.
Den Krieg wurde er berufen
Zu rühmen in manchem Band.
“König”, sagte nun der Dichter,
“Gott schütze dir deinen Sieg.
Jeder Deutsche sei dein Dichter,
Mir fiel mein Freund in dem Krieg.
Er war in dem Dorf geboren.
Wo auch ich geboren bin.
Und er ist für dich gestorben,
Lasse mich weinen um him!”
Der König lässt ihn nicht weinen,
(Kaiser kennen nicht diese Not)
“Die heute im Deutschland weinen,
Die begegnen morgen den Tod!”
So starb einmal ein Dichter,
Dessen Namen keiner ehrt:
Von königen und von Dichtern
Zeigt dieses Maerchen der Wert.
