Pfingstsonntag

Das stille Morgenlied, und in der Kirche
aus Gold und Glanz und Rosablass und Blau
die alten Bilder an den hohen Wänden,
geschmückt zum Fest von hundert frommen Händen
mit Blumen rings aus Wald und grüner Au.

Und draußen auf dem Wiesenplatz voll Schweigen
in reiner Herrlichkeit ein Meer von Licht,
Kastanien in tausend weißen Kerzen,
wie Himmelsliebe, die aus Menschenherzen
in Sehnsucht aus der Knospenhülle bricht.

Und in der holden feierlichen Schönheit
Pfingstrosenblätter, heißen Tropfen gleich,
die von dem fernen, ach so nahen Eden
mit ungezählten Feuerzungen reden
von dem ersehnten dritten Wunderreich.
