Im Herzen hab' ich dich getragen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

Deckt meinen seligen Gewinn!
So bist Du mein und bleibst mein Eigen,
Und Keiner ahnt, wie reich ich bin.

I carried you within my heart
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I carried you within my heart,
[So quietly that]1 no-one knew of it.
When I [first] saw you, day began to dawn,
[There was light]2 within my breast.

I wish to keep you in my heart
As one cherishes [a valuable]3 treasure,
As one of those beings of light
That [every person]4 carries through life.

I harbour you within my heart, and silence
Covers my blessed prize!
Thus you are mine and remain my own,
And no one suspects how rich I am.
