Der Nussbaum

Vom Bühel lugt das Bauernhaus
blitzblank ins gute Land hinaus.
Daneben steht mit Schild und Kron'
der Nussbaum wie sein Schutzpatron.
Man weiß es nicht, wie alt er ist,
man weiß nur, dass er Blitze frisst
uhnd Wetter bricht und Stürme lenkt
und einen kühlen Schatten schenkt.
Es ist ein wunderbarer Baum.
Ihn klaftern wohl drei Männer kaum,
und mancher, der mit Holz umgeht,
möcht' gern ihn kaufen, wie er steht.
Doch wenn so einer klingelnd kam
und aus dem Sack den Beutel nahm,
dem fiel der Bauer kurz ins Wort:
„Der Baum ist recht an seinem Ort.
Er war schon da, als ich nicht war,
und als mein Vater noch nicht war;
der hatt's von seines Ahnes Mund,
dass er zu seiner Zeit schon stund.
Ich wär' ein schlechter Mensch und Sohn,
gäb' ich ihn preis für schnöden Lohn.
Noch ist nicht alles feil um Geld.
Der Baum wird steh'n, bis Gott ihn fällt!“
